IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you have an "X" next to your name on any of the standings lists, you have qualified, by points and tournaments played, to play the tournament for that specific age division. However, note that there are only 32 players allowed for each draw. If there are 37 players eligible for the tournament, and all of them sign up, the best 32 players would be selected to play and the other players will be placed on the alternates list.
REMINDERS FOR THE JUNIOR GRAND PRIX CHAMPIONSHIP:
Pending qualification, a player may enter multiple age divisions for the
tournament.
There is a 32-player limit for each age division.
Points earned in this event will only count for the specific age division(s)
entered.
WARNING: SOME GROUP TIEBREAKERS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. THEY HAVE BEEN ALTERED SINCE THE ORIGINAL POSTING.
Seeds:
There will be as many top seeds as there are groups.
The overall #1 seed will be placed in group A and is determined by highest
ranking Junior Grand Prix participant. The other top seeds will be chosen directly from Junior Grand Prix
standings. The other top seeds will be randomly placed into the other
groups. Each top seed will be separated from one another. Group selections for the other seeds will be drawn out of a
hat.
Other players:
After the top seeds are placed, any members of the same family within a division
will be randomly assigned a group. All other players will randomly be
assigned a group.
Player avoidance:
Family members will not have to play one another in group
play, unless the entire draw is 5 players or less. Family members must be
part of the same household for this rule to take
effect.
Last-minute dropouts (after draw has been posted):
If the #1 seed drops out, the next highest Junior Grand Prix ranked
participant will take the #1 spot in Group A. The highest ranked unseeded player
will take the vacant position left by the player that filled in the #1 spot in
Group A.
If another seed drops out, the next highest ranked
unseeded player will take the position of the player that dropped out.
In all other post-draw dropout cases:
a). The alternates list, if any, will fill any open
positions. It will be sorted by JGP standings.
b). If there are no alternates, the last person chosen in
each group is subject to moving groups based upon size (see "Group size" below).
Dropouts during tournament
If during group play:
a). Before a match: scheduled players will receive credit for
a 6-0, 6-0 win.
b). During a match: opposing player will receive all of the
games and sets from the dropout point. All sets and games played up to
dropout are counted.
Between group and bracket play:
a). The next player in group will be inserted into the draw.
b). If the alternate list is exhausted, a "bye" will be placed in the
draw.
Group size (round-robin):
This will vary based upon the number of signups. If
needed, byes will be placed in groups where it is needed.
Byes will be assigned starting with Group A, then continues
through Group F, necessary.
